Four such devices are planned to be installed along the bridge

VLADIVOSTOK, June 24, vladivostoktimes.com The first self-acting weather station was installed on the bridge that is being erected to link the Russkiy Island and Vladivostok. The project is being developed by the Primorsky Territory Department on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring jointly with the Lanit Company. Today it is the only weather station in Russia installed on the bridge; the press service of Primorgidromet (Primorsky Territory Hydrometeorology Center) reports to RIA PrimaMedia.

The meteorological station makes it possible to monitor the safe maintenance of the bridge.

Every 5 minute the station transmits the information on bearing of an apparent wind and its force, temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure and amount of precipitation. Now the coordinating managers of the construction project can get the reliable weather reports.

“Currently it is the only weather station in Russia that is located on the bridge and I am happy that we can contribute to the preparation for hosting of the APEC Summit in 2112 in Vladivostok because the weather reports are very important for the monitoring of the bridge safe maintenance. I also would like to thank the engineers of Primorgidromet for their high skill job; they are rather experienced in installing of self-acting weather stations,” Sergey MIKHALEV, the Hydromet project coordinator, says.

The weather station is serviced by the Primorsky Territory Department on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring; they also collect and process the meteorological information.     

One more meteorological station is to be installed till late August. Four such devices are planned to be fixed along the bridge: two of them - at a height of 70 meters and two more - at a height of 300 meters.
