The 7th kilometer of the “Novyi Settlement – De-Friz Peninsula” highway was the first point of the Governor’s route. Currently over 230 employees and dozens of road-building machinery are working for the highway development. The new road is to link the Vladivostok downtown and airport and provide the speed and non-stop traffic on this route. The freeway is erected in the framework of the preparation for the APEC Summit, it is a federally funded project but some expenses are covered by the local budget; its total cost is over 3 billion Rubles.

Besides, Sergey DARKIN inspected the sewage treatment facilities of the North District. This unit is being modernized in the framework of the Federal Program “Development of Vladivostok as the International Cooperation Center in the Asia-Pacific Region.” Currently the sewage works can only treat 17 thousand cubic meters of sewage per day. When the first stage of the sewage disposal plant is put into operation, its capacity will increase to 50 thousand cubic meters per day.

The Governor is also going to attend the construction site of the waste processing complex and the solid waste landfill in the Gornostai district that is being modernized since the early 2010. Finally, Sergey DARKIN intends to inspect the Vladivostok Central District sewage treatment facilities. The Primorye Governor pointed out that the APEC Summit objects play an important role in the Vladivostok residents’ everyday life. The sewage disposal plant will make it possible to stop the sewage dumping in the sea and the costal water will become cleaner. The up-to-date waste processing complex will improve the city environment. The new roads are to prevent the city from the traffic jams. All these projects are to improve the quality of life in Vladivostok.
