Japanese Governors Delegation to Visit Primorye

The visitors will have a look at the APEC Summit objects and have a talk with the local universities students

VLADIVOSTOK, May 4, vladivostoktimes.com The Japanese Governors delegation is to visit Primorye on May 5-6. The visitors will have a look at the APEC Summit objects, the Vladivostok Commercial Port and have a talk with the local universities students; the press service of the Primorsky Territory Administration reports to RIA PrimaMedia.

The delegation is headed by Mr. Aso VATARU, the Governor of the Fukuoka Prefecture and the President of the Japanese Governors Association.

As the Primorsky Territory Department of International Cooperation and Tourism informs, the delegation includes the Governors of Japanese Prefectures Tottori, Akita, Hokkaido, Fukuoka, Yamagata, Gunma and Toyama. The visitors intends to have a look at the projects that are being erected in the framework of preparation for hosting of the APEC Summit in Vladivostok, the Vladivostok Commercial Port and have a talk with FENU students. Besides, the Agreement on Cooperation and Friendly Relations between the Primorsky Territory and the Tottori Prefecture is to be signed.

We should note that Primorye has already established the stable business contacts with some Japanese prefectures. For instance, the cooperation with Mitsui, one of the largest Japanese companies taking part in building of the APEC Summit infrastructure objects, is increasingly developing. They are tending to erect the wind power plants in the Primorsky Territory.       

In July of 2009 the ferry line started operating; it links the ports Sakaiminato (Japan), Donghe (Republic of Korea) and Vladivostok (Russia). The opening of the ferry line has become a significant economic event and boosted up the tourism development.
