Bridge to Connect Russkiy and Popova Islands in Vladivostok

The decision of starting engineering and constructing one more bridge is made by the Governor

VLADIVOSTOK, April 22, vladivostoktimes.com One more bridge will appear in Vladivostok. It will connect Russkiy and Popova Islands. The Governor Sergey DARKIN told it journalists during the visit of the RF President Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Victor ISHAYEV. Yesterday the Vladivostok Mayor Igor PUSHKARYOV reported it to deputies of the city Duma.

According to him, the decision of starting engineering and constructing the bridge to Popova Island was made by the Governor, and there is corresponding note in minutes of the meeting.

Let us remind that Popova Island is situated almost in the center of the Peter the Great Gulf in the Sea of Japan in 20 kilometers from Vladivostok. It was named after Admiral Andrei POPOV. This territory and Russkiy Island are equally favorite recreation places of Vladivostok citizens and guests. There are some recreation centers and summer camps on the island. Now it will take you 2 hours to get to the island by boat or ferry.
