VLADIVOSTOK, February 21, vladivostoktimes.com The pylons of the Golden Horn Bay Bridge are of unique design – the engineering decisions applying to the bridge construction are used nowhere in the world but in Vladivostok. The auto tunnel that goes from Funicular railway is the Vladivostok bridge peculiarity. It took only five months to build the tunnel and it is the record time.

The press service of the Primorsky Territory Administration reports that Sergey DARKIN held the working meeting on the Golden Horn Bay Bridge building and visited the construction sites where #8 and #9 abutments are being erected. The project is being developed according to the schedule and financed in full amount. The bridge over the Golden Horn Bay is expected to bring into service in 2011, in autumn.   

Victor GREBNEV, the Director of the Pacific Bridge Engineering Company, reported to the Governor that currently the bridge abutments are being poured and the bridge spans are being mounted.     

Let us remind you that the Golden Horn Bay Bridge is one of the most complicated and significant projects that are to be erected for the APEC Summit in 2012. Besides the bridge two highways running to the both sides of the bridge are expected to be built.   

The bridge peculiarity is the auto tunnel that goes from Funicular railway; it was built in record short time – 5 months. The builders had to remove over 250 thousand square meters of rocky ground during the project development. Four abutments and a pylon are to be built on either bridge hand and the guy cable will be fastened to them. Currently the guy cables for the Golden Horn Bay Bridge are produced in France. All the rest building materials are made in Russia.      

The pylons and abutments will be colorfully illuminated and it will also become the bridge property. Lit in the moonlight the bridge will decorate the night-time Vladivostok and will be one more visiting card of the city.
