Steeplejacks have more chances to obtain a job

The bridge over three kilometers long is to link Nazimov Peninsula (the Patroclus Bay) with Novosilskiy Cape (the Russkiy Island). Over 4 billion Rubles was allocated to the bridge building from the Federal budget in 2008. According to Igor ZUBAREV, the Director of the customer company “Vladivostok,” the great amount of spadework, such as construction of the necessary facilities and providing with off-site energy supply, has already been carried out by the JSC “USC MOST.”     They are working at 23 bridge pillars. In the Nazimov Peninsula and on the Russkiy Island the bored piles for trestle bridge are being erected: 149 bored piles in the Nazimov Peninsula and 18 - on the Russkiy Island. Two divisions of Subcontractor Company “MOST” are carrying out the work. The bridge builders started the construction of the necessary facilities of the pillars footings, the coating plants are being installed; the construction site is provided with special equipment. Sergey DARKIN, the Governor of the Primorsky Territory, noted that it is necessary to optimize the schedule of works as the Russkiy Island bridge is one the most complicated projects in the framework of preparation for the Summit. This unique object will be the calling card of Vladivostok both in Russia and overseas. The Governor gave special attention to the item of the Primorye residents’ employment in the bridge building. According to the experts, skilled blue-collar personnel, especially steeplejacks are in great demand. “We should to turn to the Primorye Placement Service. The Primorye workers should be employed at the bridge building in the first place. We should involve the workers of occupations that are in demand in building of the Russkiy Island Bridge and other APEC Summit objects,” Sergey DARKIN notes. Besides, the delivery of materials item was discussed. The bridge builders reported that today they purchase cement and reinforced concrete from the local suppliers. They also intend to place orders for the bridge spans’ metal ware at the Primorye companies in future. Summing up the meeting the Governor proposed to look at the Primorye mining companies as possible partners; it also could increase the mining complex capacity utilization.
