Sergey Darkin Meets Japanese Consul General in Vladivostok

Governor is interested in Japanese companies taking part in APEC Summit 2012 projects

VLADIVOSTOK, January 22, vladivostoktimes.com Primorsky Territory Governor Sergey Darkin and Japanese Consul General in Vladivostok Masayoshi Kamohara discussed prospects of trade and economic cooperation. Japanese Consul General’s term of office expires this year. Sergey Darkin thanked Masayoshi Kamohara for his productive work as Japanese Consul General in Vladivostok. Close trade and economic relations have been established between the regions. Over the eight months trade turnover between Primosky Territory and Japan increased by 39 percent and reached 1.8 billion dollars. At the meeting Sergey Darkin noted that various cultural and business contacts had been established between Japan and Primorsky Territory. Exchange of delegations has been carried out successfully. Primorsky Territory Administration is interested in the expansion of trade and economic cooperation with Japan on mutually beneficial basis. Prospective Japanese investors’ participation in APEC Summit 2012 projects opens new opportunities for cooperation. Some of prospective projects carried out in Primorsky Territory are construction of APEC Summit infrastructure objects, oil and gas pipelines, an oil harbor in Kozmino and a refinery. Governor noted Primorsky Territory’s interest in inviting Japanese companies to work on these projects. It will open new cooperation directions and bring the relations on a new level.
